Google Pixel 6a pre-orders will start on July 21. Announced at Google I/O 2022, the new smartphone is likely to replace the current generation Pixel 5a in our list of the best Android phones you can buy under $500.
The new Google Pixel 6a will have a 6.1-inch screen paired with the same Google Tensor chip found in the Pixel 6. Google says it’ll be 5 times faster than the Pixel 5a, yet will come at the same $449 price tag as the Pixel 5a. current model. Google also says that it will back the phone with five years of security updates, making it more valuable for consumers who want to run more for their money.

The Pixel 6a will be available in Chalk, Charcoal, and Sage. It will borrow a lot of traits from the Pixel 6. For example, it will have the same two-tone color scheme as Google’s current flagship, as well as the same camera strip design that runs across the back of the phone. Despite its starting price, the Pixel 6a will also have a metal frame instead of the plastic one.
